2048 is mostly played on a gray grid, with numbered tiles that slide using the four arrow keys as a player moves them. Every turn, a new tile will randomly appear in an empty spot on the board with a value of either 2 or 4. In the chosen direction, tiles slide as far as possible until either another tile or the edge of the grid stops them. If two tiles with the same number collide when traveling, they will combine into a tile with the total value of the two tiles that collided.
